Member since: I initially became a member shortly after moving to Seattle in 1978
Occupation: Recently retired Public Defender, as a trial and managing attorney
Favorite Activities: Bicycling, hiking, photography, scrambling, skiing, snowshoeing

10 ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS:

WHAT FIRST BROUGHT YOU TO THE MOUNTAINEERS?  

When I moved to Seattle, I was seeking new friends and wanted to learn about mountain climbing and glacier travel. Joining The Mountaineers proved to be a good combination for me near and far. I've climbed many a peak from Garibaldi in Canada to Sisters in Oregon while making lasting friendships with outdoor adventures throughout the world.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE MOUNTAINEERS MEMORY? 

Doing crevasse rescue as part of the Basic Climbing course in 1979 in some deep crevasses on Mount Rainier.

WHAT DOES ADVENTURE WITH PURPOSE MEAN TO YOU?

Making a meaningful connection with others while sharing the adventure.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO DONATE TO THE MOUTNAINEERS?

Encouraging youth to adventure outdoors and sustaining The Mountaineers for future generations. Through my donations, I hope to create an appreciation for nature and wildlands to promote protection and preservation.
