The Mountaineers
Two years ago, we welcomed 400 members of our community for Breakthough, a night celebrating the accomplishments of those who dare to adventure outside the box. We told guests to expect the unexpected. When special guest Alex Honnold put on a harness and participated in a Tyrolean traverse race 20ft above the audience, guests were in awe.
That experience inspired this year's theme of AWE: expect the unexpected. It's coming right up on March 18 and tickets are going fast. Trust us: you won't want to miss this.
We're pleased to announce our special guest for the evening: Kit DesLauriers.
Kit is a ski mountaineer and member of The North Face Global Athlete Team and a two-time World Freeskiing Champion. In 2010, she made several first ski descents in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge of Alaska and counts these among the favorites in her life. Beyond the Seven Summits and the USA, Kit has skied in Bolivia, Siberia, New Zealand, and the Alps.
An active member of conservation focused nonprofits, Kit and her husband Rob live in Teton Village, Wyoming, where they're raising their two young daughters to appreciate the natural world. There will be an exclusive meet and greet for VIP ticket holders. Trust us - you'll want to be there for this amazing evening.
Proceeds from this event directly support our efforts to get more people – especially young people – outside. Our ‘Mountain Workshops’ programs offer outdoor experiences to underserved youth who would not otherwise have the means to enjoy the outdoors. So we invite them to learn new skills and explore nature. And we see their eyes light up as they overcome difficult challenges, and discover their own future potential.
