In 2024, I joined The Mountaineers after a life-changing experience in the Sierra Nevada. I had a close call falling into a snow bridge, which made me realize how much I had yet to learn about traveling safely in the mountains. A close friend pointed me to The Mountaineers, and that recommendation set me on a path of challenge, growth, and deep connection.
That same year, I completed the Alpine Scrambling course, an experience that pushed me physically and emotionally in ways I never expected. I learned to navigate difficult terrain, face my fears, and develop the skills to move safely and confidently in the mountains. But more than that, I became part of a community - one that welcomed, challenged, and inspired me.
Since moving to Washington in 2023, The Mountaineers has been a cornerstone of my life. The friendships and mentorship I’ve found have been invaluable, and I want to give back to the organization that has given me so much. I’m eager to volunteer in any way I can to support this incredible community, and I am honored to serve as the Foothills Branch Safety Officer to help continue the work of those who made it such a welcoming and transformative place.
I look forward to the opportunity to give back.
