Want to get more involved with The Mountaineers and support programs at a foundational level? Consider becoming the Treasurer for the Foothills Branch.

The Foothills Branch Treasurer acts as a liaison between the different activity committees and Mountaineers finance staff. We have been lucky to have Elizabeth Nakashima in this role for most of 2023! Elizabeth is continuing on as Treasurer for Foothills Hiking, Backpacking and Urban Walks.

This role is not responsible for drafting individual committee budgets, but instead is a coordinating role that works with committee treasurers to submit annual budgets and mid-year budget summaries to staff. The treasurer also provides regular financial updates from staff at Foothills Branch Council meetings which occur every other month. This role is usually about 6-8 hours of work per month during budget season (February-June) and about 3 hours per month in the off-season.

QUALIFICATIONS

Treasurer candidates should be familiar with google spreadsheets and be comfortable uploading documents to shared drives (we use Basecamp).

Additional skills that are helpful, but not required include:

  • Familiarity with Mountaineers programs
  • Experience with expense reimbursement processes
  • Experience with basic financial reporting

If you are interested in the treasurer role or simply want to learn more please reach out to Brad Peacock at BMPeacock@aol.com. Please reach out by October 1, 2023.
