Farewell to Martinique: A message from board president Dan Lauren

It’s with sadness that I announce Martinique Grigg has decided to step down from her role as executive director of The Mountaineers August 13.  She has served in this position since December 2009.

Martinique stepped in as ED when The Mountaineers needed to transition. Under her leadership, we achieved an outward-looking culture, engaged with the community in a larger way, became a 501(c)3 nonprofit, started youth programs and developed a professional staff. Her talent and dedication helped us achieve financial stability and energized our conservation movement. She turned our organization around!

I had the privilege of working with Martinique on various projects since 2010 and in a partnership as board president for the last two years. I will always treasure her as a friend and colleague.

Martinique embodies the spirit and ambition upon which The Mountaineers was founded and she will be sorely missed. We wish her the very best in her future career and in raising her young family.

The board and executive committee are working with Martinique to manage the transition process effectively. A personnel committee has been engaged to search for a new executive director. An interim director will be named later this summer.

As always, The Mountaineers is committed to its mission and vision and will continue to work to create a community that values the outdoors. We look forward to serving our membership during the transition and beyond.

Please join us August 11 to wish Martinique well

To honor Martinique, we’ve planned a Thank You Celebration on Tuesday, August 11, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. at the Mountaineers Seattle Program Center. All members are invited to join us to thank Martinique and to wish her well. Light refreshments will be served. Please RSVP here if you plan to attend.
