Celebrating Peak Society Donors at the 2023 Banff Mountain Film Festival

Our Peak Society donors contribute $1,000 or more throughout the year to support the work and mission of The Mountaineers. To express our gratitude for their generosity, we hosted our annual Peak Society reception on the opening night of the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour at Benaroya Hall.

Celebrating Peak Society Donors at the 2023 Banff Mountain Film Festival

Once again, The Mountaineers partnered with Banff Mountain Film Festival to bring their World Tour to the Pacific Northwest. The World Tour screenings have been the perfect venue to recognize and celebrate our Peak Society members, who are The Mountaineers leadership level donors that bolster our mission and community impact. Before the show, on Wednesday evening, we celebrated nearly 200 Peak Society members at a lively reception in the stunning Promenade of Benaroya Hall, where we visited with old friends and met new adventure buddies.

Many joyful conversations were had about summer excursions and getting excited for winter adventures, and a highlight of the evening was witnessing the commitment of this group of Mountaineers leaders to drive the importance and impact of scholarships and outdoor equity programs, as well as the mission impact created through philanthropic support. We are thankful for these individuals whose generosity continues to power how we expand and accelerate impact, reach new audiences, and create deeper, richer experiences in the outdoors.

We also extend our gratitude to our sponsors Tinte Cellars, Ghostfish Brewing Company, and Georgetown Brewery for providing beer and wine for the reception, and for DSquared Hospitality Company for the delectable appetizers.

The rest of the evening was filled with eight outdoor adventure films from the USA, Canada, and Switzerland that added stoke, made us laugh, awed us with beauty, and inspired us with stories of indomitable outdoor spirit. At intermission The Mountaineers staff raffled off packages from the Banff World Tour and local sponsors. One lucky Peak Society member even had a winning raffle ticket and took home one of the prime raffle prizes. The Arnica playlist from Wednesday can be found here.

The Peak Society reception is one of several events that take place in the course of the year where we celebrate and appreciate our most engaged members. As part of the member benefits of being part of the Peak Society we offer comp tickets to our Banff World Tour Seattle hosted screening dates. We look forward to hosting the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour and our Peak Society donors again next year!

Peak Society members are part of a distinguished group of donors who share our vision to educate and engage the next generation of recreationists and conservationists by making an annual gift of $1,000 or more to support The Mountaineers. While the journey to becoming a Peak Society member looks different for everyone, oftentimes a member’s first leadership gift stems from an influential learning experience, place, or book. If you are inspired to support the Mountaineers through elevating your own giving, below are some ways you can make a qualifying gift in support of our mission and programs.

  • Make a one-time gift of $1,000 or more to The Mountaineers.
  • Make a multi-payment pledge of $1,000 or make a monthly donation of $84 for 12 months
  • “Raise the Paddle” for $1,000 or more at a Mountaineers signature fundraising event such as the Annual Gala (Note: Event ticket prices and auction purchases are not eligible for Peak Society)
  • Submit your volunteer hours for a $1,000 corporate matching gift from your employer to The Mountaineers
  • Make a gift of securities valued at $1,000 or more
