WHAT TO EXPECT
The Annual Gala is our signature event of the year where we raise funds to support our ongoing Adventure with Purpose mission and programs. The evening includes:
- Pre-Program Reception & Silent Auction: Before dinner guests have a chance to mix, mingle and bid on our high value silent auction items. Most items come from our generous supporters, outdoor brands and sponsors and support you getting outside!
- Gala Dinner: Enjoy a delicious dinner from Kaspars Catering plus award-winning wine from Tinte Cellars, hand-crafted cocktails, and more.
- Main Program: After dinner enjoy our main program that includes our popular Tyrolean Traverse, a friendly competition as you watch contestants traverse 60 meters out-and-back above the audience. This will be followed by our inaugural awarding of the Adventure with Purpose Award and our Keynote Address.
- Live Auction & Raise the Paddle: Event evening ends with the live auction where guests can bid on amazing experiences, artwork, getaways, and awesome gear or help support our mission by throwing your hand up during our Raise the Paddle part of the program.
This year we’ve set an ambitious goal of raising $620,000 at this year's Gala! All funds raised through ticket sales, auction bids, and Raise the Paddle donations provide unrestricted funding to help make the magic of Mountaineers programs possible.
MAIN PROGRAM
We are thrilled to announce that world renowned mountaineer, explorer, and author Reinhold Messner will be our 2024 Keynote Speaker. Coming all the way from Italy, Mr. Messner is excited to regale our Gala audience with tales of record-breaking achievements and explorations from, literally, the top of the world. The Mountaineers will also be presenting Rue Mapp with our inaugural Adventure with Purpose Award in honor of her career as founder and CEO of the national nonprofit Outdoor Afro, outdoor gear designer and founder of Outdoor Afro Inc., as well as her commitment to championing public lands across the U.S. This award will be presented by the former U.S. Secretary of the Interior, Sally Jewell.
