The Mountaineers
December is a wonderful time of the year, not only for the spirit of generosity but also for festive celebrations. In an attempt to merge the two, we once again hosted a Peak Society reception to celebrate our top Mountaineers donors—those who give over $1,000 per year—in conjunction with the ever-popular Banff Mountain Film Festival, all hosted at the elegant Benaroya Hall.
The reception involved the merriment of food, drink, and socializing. The room was filled to the brim as our robust corp of faithful supporters continues to grow, with over 200 people joining us for the reception this year.
Looking around the reception room, we felt so much pride in our community—from people discussing the importance of course scholarships to the urgency of philanthropic giving. It's clear this is an influential group who advances the work of our volunteer-led education by ensuring equitable access to outdoor opportunities and who provide an avenue for members to conserve and protect our wild places. Our work wouldn't be possible without such generosity.
Once the reception concluded, our donors were then ushered into the auditorium to their premier seats to join 2,100 others, making the film festival a sold-out event. Over the next three hours, everyone watched a series of short films, reminding us the importance of the outdoors and the lengths we need to go to continue protecting it.
