10 Essential Questions

How did you get involved with The Mountaineers?

I love hiking and backpacking alone, but this isn't always the safest way to go. I joined the Mountaineers to meet people who I could head outside with.

What motivates you to get outside with us?

If I don't get outside, I go a little crazy. My soul needs a reset that only happens when I'm in a forest or on top of a mountain. What motivates me to do it with the Mountaineers specifically is that it's a great place to meet like-minded people who understand and encourage being outside.

What's your favorite Mountaineers memory?

I don't have very many so far, but the one that sticks out most in my mind was practicing ice ax self-arrest in my scrambling class. We spent probably an hour dangling each other on our backs, headfirst, facing downhill so we could get the technique down. It was terrifying and hilarious all at the same time.

Who/What inspires you?

 Mountains inspire me.

What does adventure mean to you?

Adventure means getting away from the safety and trappings of civilization to a more primal place.

Lightning Round
Sunrise or sunset? Sunrise.
Smile or game face? Smile.
Superpower? Teleportation. I'm not sure why this is even a question! Who wouldn't want to live in the middle of nowhere, work wherever a good job was, have dinner in Paris, and spend the weekend in Vietnam?
Post-adventure meal of choice? Anything with a chocolate peanut butter milkshake, a giant beer, or both.
If you could be a rock star at any outdoor activity overnight, what would it be?  Breathing at altitude so I could do quicker trips up taller peaks.
