Stewardship - Hamma Hamma Campground

NOTE: THIS IS A SCOUTING TRIP (hiking and documenting) in the Hamma Hamma and the Lena Creek Campgrounds and the Living Legacy Nature Trail to determine the extent of winter damage and the clean up requirements. A separate stewardship projects is posted on Saturday, April 12.

  • Easy/Moderate, Moderate
  • Moderate
  • Elevation Gain: 50 ft

These two campgrounds are very close to each other (less than 2 mi.) and relatively small (Hamma Hamma = 15 Campsites and Lena Creek = 13 sites).   There is also a 1.4 mile trail associated with Hamma Hamma CG, the  Living Legacy Trail, which we will need to scout.

The scouting consists of making brief but specific documentation via notes at each site with a few photos of extraordinary problems. When there is a trail in and around the campground we will also scout the trail to identify the trail maintenance needs.

We will meet at 9:00 a.m. at Haggen's Food and Drug, 1313 Cooper Point Road near the front of the large parking lot.  I can drive, but we'll figure out the driver(s)  when we gather at Haggen's.  I am estimating that we will return to Haggens's PL around 3PM  Earlier, if we find no problems.   Dress for the weather and be prepared for worse.  Bring a lunch, your day pack, water and snacks.
