Day Hike - Millersylvania State Park

Millersylvania State Park is a 900-acre historic property located in south Thurston County along the shore of Deep Lake. A system of trails and roads meanders through old forests and wetlands amidst numerous structures built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. We will hike about three miles exploring the various environments found within the park.

If you are recovering from surgery, rehabbing an injury, trying to get back in shape, or just doing some low intensity maintenance workouts, this may suit you. Leaders have been doing hikes at local parks of about 2.5 miles, with moderate elevation gain, averaging a little under 2 mph, and invite you to join them.

Let's meet at 9:30 a.m. in the Haggen's supermarket parking lot in west Olympia, at 1313 Cooper Point Road and Black Lake Blvd, across the parking lot from the main entrance, and near the white ballot drop and US mail boxes. Haggen's has an in-store Starbucks and bathrooms. Please take care of all of that so we are ready to go at 9:30. Carpooling is encouraged and we will consolidate rides before departing.

Exit from Haggen's parking lot, turning right on Black Lake Boulevard, and turning left onto US 101 south eastbound for 1.8 mi. Then exit onto I-5 south for 4.7 mi. to 93rd Ave. SE (Exit 99). Proceed eastbound 1.5 mi. to a right turn on Tilley Rd SE (SR 121) for 3.0 mi. to a right turn into the entrance to Millersylvania State Park. Proceed by the entrance station and past the campground road to the Deep Lake boat launch sign. Veer right and park at the far end of the parking lot just before the parking loop near the trailhead kiosk. A Discover Pass is required. We will gather at the trailhead kiosk.

If you prefer to meet at the trailhead, meet at the trailhead kiosk ready to go by 9:50 am.
