Leader's permission required. This will be a very chill and relaxed overnight trip. We have enough daylight to explore. There are a couple of washouts on the Carbon river road. If you are not comfortable with hiking a fully loaded bike, this might not be the trip for you. But if you are extreme hike a bike curious and you are able to lift your loaded bike off the ground at least 3ft and can carry your loaded bike at least 10ft, then this type 2 fun might be your thing. This caution is based off a WTA trip report from 6/25 Here is the link to the report: https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/trip-reports/trip_report.2023-06-26.2370076068
It is possible that the route has been cleared but I did not find any info on the NSP site. I recommend Mountain bikes, hard tail or rigid. Gravel bikes with very experienced riders may be considered.
We will ride and arrive at camp and decide on side hikes based on conditions and group votes.
Day 2, plan on an easy morning and a ride start of about 10:00 to head out (negotiable based on the team's requests).
Let's meet at Mt. Rainier Carbon River Entrance parking area at 10:00 am and expect to be riding at 11:00am the latest. We will have a brief discussion about the ride to the camp prior to departure.
