As with standard Mountaineers Sea Kayaking activities, participants are responsible for making arrangements for their boats, gear, camping equipment, food, and water.

In addition, all paddlers will need to pay for their own ferry tickets to Friday Harbor, as well as for overnight parking at the Anacortes Ferry Terminal.

Also, all paddlers will need a folding kayak trolly/cart for moving their own boats from the Anacortes Ferry Terminal to Friday.  Bring bungies or other straps to secure your trolly/cart on your back deck if it will not fit inside your kayak.

Combine the experience of sea kayaking with camping with this overnight trip from Friday Harbor to Jones Island, and back!  As a bonus, we have reservations for a short visit to the Nature Conservancy’s Yellow Island Preserve on the first day of the trip.

In summary, we’ll meet at the overnight parking lot at the Anacortes Ferry Terminal, cart our boats onto the ferry for the ride to Friday Harbor.  From there, we’ll cart our boats off the ferry and roll a short distance to our launch point.

From there, we’ll launch and paddle north along the coast of San Juan Island for a while then cross over to the westernmost point of Shaw Island, taking advantage of the Point George current as we work our way to Yellow Island then on to Jones.
