WHITMAN CREST/FRYINGPAN GLACIER (9,323 FT) 5,400 FEET OF ELEVATION GAIN, DIFFICULTY: BASIC ALPINE CLIMB From Meany Crest proceed up Fryingpan Glacier. Aim to notch southeast (climber’s left) of 9,323 ft high point of Whitman Crest. From camp it is a 232° true north bearing to the notch, but crevasses will impede direct progress. Observe crevasses in map below in your planning process. This will be a technical, strenuous basic climb with 8,100 ft gain.
Current students participating on this trip must have completed course requirements and passed all evaluations ahead of the trip.
We will be holding a conditioner climb early May to simulate this trip by going up and down Mt Si twice! - Saturday, leave Seattle and arrive at the TH, approach in, reach base camp, set camp, shut eyes
- Sunday, 2am start, reach summit, walk back to camp, pack things, hike to the TH, reach TH by ~3pm, drive home
