Cross-Country Ski Leader Application

If you are interested in volunteering as a cross-country ski leader, fill out this form and we will forward it to the nearest volunteer committee so they can review it and help you begin the process of familiarizing you with our guidelines, policies, and standards for these activities.

Currently, only the Foothills Cross-Country Ski Committee requires this formal application. Members of other branches should contact their local committee chair directly

The look on people's faces when you get them outside and show them places they've never seen is one of the best rewards for volunteering. If you are interested in contributing to the mission of The Mountaineers by organizing and leading cross-country skiing trips, please let us know by completing this simple application. Our committees vet new leaders to ensure everyone meets our activity standards, and this application provides relevant information about your goals and experience. One of our volunteers will follow up with you on the next steps to get you certified as a trip leader!

Cross-Country Ski Experience Describe your cross-country ski experience to include how long you have been skiing, classic or skate, year you graduated from Basic Country Skiing (if relevant) or year you received Basic Ski Equivalency?

Recent Cross-Country Ski Trips List the most recent cross-country ski trips that you have done. This list should include at least two Mountaineers trips with different ski leaders who may be contacted as a reference.

Why do you want to be a Cross-Country Ski Leader? Please tell us what interests you about becoming a cross-country trip leader with The Mountaineers. What about leading appeals to you and how might it fit with your personal goals or other plans?

Group Leadership Experience Please describe any group leadership/outdoor leadership experience you have (including service as a leader, instructor, or other similar role in conducting outdoor recreational activities).
