Branch Leadership Openings

Branch Leadership Openings

Help our programs continue to grow and thrive by contributing your skills and energy to a leadership role with one of our branches! Past branch or committee experience isn’t required, and active mentoring and support are built into all roles.

Remember that feeling you got after completing your first Mountaineers hike, paddle, or scramble? “We did it!” Take that exhilaration to the next level, build your team leadership experience and resume, and contribute in a fun, meaningful way to the growth of our exciting programs. Consider serving in a leadership role at one of our branches!

The Mountaineers is always seeking candidates who are interested to volunteer in a branch or activity leadership position. All volunteer leadership positions are supported with active mentorship and don’t require a deep background with our branch or activity committees - though your background in team or operations leadership, project management, finance, or accounting would be a great fit! Please read more about these roles and how to get involved.

Branch Chair

The Branch Chair coordinates and supports the efforts and initiatives of their branch committees. At most of our branches, the Branch Chair role is a three-year responsibility in which the first year is served as Chair-Elect, the second year as Chair, and the third year as Past Chair and mentor. Elections for this position are typically held in early fall. During their first year in training, the Branch Chair-Elect works closely with the Branch Chair and Branch Past Chair to learn about, coordinate, and support the efforts and initiatives of the branch committees.

Learn more about each of our seven branches, and contact the current Branch Chair (listed as the contact on the branch page) to get involved:

  • Bellingham
  • Everett
  • Foothills
  • Kitsap
  • Olympia
  • Seattle
  • Tacoma

TREASURER

The Branch Treasurer supports the Branch Chair and activity committees by overseeing the annual budget process, supporting the development of annual course pricing and investment proposals, and processing check requests and reimbursement requests for branch volunteers. At most of our branches, the Branch Treasurer is a two-year term. Elections for this position are typically held in early fall.

Learn more about each of our seven branches (listed above), and contact the current Branch Chair (listed as the contact on the branch page) to get involved.

Course Instructor or Trip Leader

The Mountaineers relies on skilled and passionate volunteers to pass their love and knowledge of the outdoors on to others. Inspiring others to love and protect the outdoors - and teaching them to do it safely and responsibly - is the heart of our mission and we invite you to be a part of it.
