Promote Virtual Events & Activities

I want to introduce you to our amazing Virtual Education Center and Virtual Events & Activities Calendar pages, where you can find a wide range of classes and events that you can participate in from the comfort of your home! We hope you find this content fun and useful, and inspired for your next outdoor adventure.

This workshop will be delivered online as a Zoom meeting. The session will be a mix of presentation and small group discussion and participants will be expected to engage with the presenter and with one another via chat and audio.

You will need access to a computer with a speaker, microphone, and camera, as well as connection to high-speed internet. A smartphone or tablet can also be used to participate. Be sure to download the Zoom app ahead of your first meeting. You do not need to sign up for a (free) account, just have the app on your device. You will be prompted to join the meeting through the Zoom app when you click the meeting link. Note that the “one touch mobile” information connects you only with audio and you will not see any screen sharing. Information about how to log-on to the Zoom meeting will be sent a day or two before the session.

RSVP Required

Event space is limited to 100 attendees. All attendees must RSVP to receive the virtual presentation link and call-in information. The Zoom link and password will be emailed to all RSVP'd attendees prior to the presentation on the evening of April 23, 2020. Please do not email the event contact asking for a link prior to the event closing.

Become a Mountaineers Member

Not a Mountaineers member? No problem! You can still register to attend this event by signing up for a free guest adult or family membership. All you need to do is click this link, select your membership type (Guest Adult or Guest Family), and fill out the membership info page. Five minutes and you’ll be all set to register for any two Mountaineers virtual events! If you plan to enjoy more than two virtual events, consider signing up for a paid membership using the link above.

New Zoom Users

If you’re new to Zoom, please join the session 15 minutes early for a brief orientation and opportunity to ask questions about the meeting features. This will ensure we’re able to begin on time and use the full hour of this event for content and discussion.

Zoom Breakout Rooms

We plan to utilize Breakout Rooms to facilitate small group discussions during these sessions. All attendees will need to download the Zoom desktop client or mobile app to participate in Breakout Rooms. For the best user experience, we recommend participating in these webinars from a computer connected to high-speed internet.

Zoom Welcome Slides

To ensure attendees and speakers know that they are in the right place when they log-on to your meeting, it helps for the event host to display a welcome slide.

Download the template that corresponds to the type of Q&A session you'd like to host. The "Chat Q&A" template has a slide instructing participants to ask questions in the chat box. The "Raised Hand Q&A" template has a slide instructing participants to raise their hand to be recognized by the speaker or moderator.

These sample slide decks also include template information for basic Zoom use and suggested donations.

Mountaineers Phased Guidance

Pre-Trip Email

By registering to attend this trip, you are agreeing to The Mountaineers COVID-19 Code of Conduct and guidance for activities. Please visit the COVID-19 Response page for the current program status. You may find the most up-to-date information about The Mountaineers program operations on the COVID-19 Response page.

Participants signed up for multiple activities

During Phases 1.5 & 2, The Mountaineers recommends limiting trips to one trip a week or multiple trips with the same roster to keep in the spirit of the state guidelines to reduce weekly exposure. As a part of their trip listing, leaders may ask participants to follow this recommendation. Leaders may review an individual’s recent Mountaineers activity history and reach out to participants with any concerns. Please consider using the following language to start a conversation:

  • In addition to our upcoming trip together, I see that you’re registered for multiple in-person activities with different leaders during the week prior to our trip. As stated in my trip listing, I'm asking all participants to follow The Mountaineers recommendation to limit trips to one per week (or multiple with the same roster). Please adjust your participation to one trip per week; if not, out of respect for the rest of the group, I will cancel your participation from our trip.
