In The Trees Around You (Mountaineers Books), Portland arborist and environmental educator Casey Clapp helps readers get to know familiar trees commonly found in Northwest woodlands and in neighborhoods.

Casey will talk with Mountaineers day hikers, backpackers, and naturalists about identifying trees by shape, bark, bloom, leaves, and seeds, using a unique step-by-step process, and about taking all the photos that illustrate his guide. Clapp has worked as a professional arborist, city forester, and arborist consultant, and he co-hosts the science comedy podcast Completely Arbortrary.

If you've been relying too much on your Seek app, Casey's tree talk is for you! He'll bring books to sell at our event, so you can pick up an autographed copy or two.
