Milky Way NightScapes Photography Lecture by Royce Bair

Milky Way NightScapes Photography Lecture by Royce Bair

Join us for a free presentation by Royce Bair on how to photograph Milky Way landscapes.

Many of these unique photos are shot as one exposure with very little digital manipulation.  Although starry night landscape photography is challenging, Royce's step-by-step recipe will have you capturing great Milky Way "NightScapes" the first time you go out on your own.  Bair will give a digital slide presentation, loaded with a lot of technical, how-to information, such as: planning when and where to shoot the Milky Way, forecasting, finding dark skies, calculating star alignment, choosing the right lens, exposure calculation, noise reduction techniques, light painting, and exposure blending.  There will also be time for questions and answers.

Royce Bair is a semi-retired magazine photographer who has been doing starry “NightScape” photography for three decades.  His photography appeared in various publications such as National Geographic, Smithsonian, Reader’s Digest, and American Photo, just to name a few.  In recent years, many tried to copy his night photography style and techniques, but Royce continues to push the astro-landscape photography envelope.  He teaches his advancements via free lectures and paid workshops.  “Seeing many of my students go beyond what I have done, and use these skills to photograph the Milky Way with new landscape features is very satisfying,” reports Royce.  His blog provides additional night photography techniques, where he also also offer tutorial, and features the work of other night photographers: Into the Night Photography [LINK is: http://intothenightphoto.blogspot.com/]
