Kayak Navigation 2.0- Compass work and Currents compensation - Kitsap Lake

This short clinic will review how to sight a compass bearing and draw a line of position on the chart, how to create a bearing on a chart and translate that to a compass bearing on the kayak. Then we will practice using graphical vector analysis to plan trips with currents in the crossing.

Mostly tabletop work using chart, hand-held compass, ruler. Prerequisite: Sea Kayak Navigation course or otherwise have my permission. 

Priority will be given to current Mountaineers trip leaders. If you are not a trip leader, go ahead and still contact me, but hold off on signing up until May 6th.

Meeting will be at private home near Kitsap Lake in Bremerton, WA. Address will be emailed out closer to the time. Plan to arrive and be ready to go by 4:00pm with those items shown under Equipment tab, plus something to eat while we are working if you so wish.  You can heat up you food here if needed.

Hand-held compass. Centimeter & inch ruler(s). Pencil. White eraser. Bring charts you have, but probably we will use photocopies of mine.
