This is an introduction to kayak camping clinic. There will be an evening zoom (online) meeting with the instructors in advance to go over equipment and boat packing. Boat packing is a big part of kayak camping. Participants will need to bring their own tents, sleeping kit, food, cooking kit, and water. The campsites have Raccoon-proof food storage bins. This trip may be utilized as one of this years' student paddles. Campsites have been reserved for 6 tents, so tent sharing will be encouraged. If more participants want to attend, we may be able to reserve an additional site (3 more tents). If using this paddle as a student paddle, the participant must demonstrate wet exits and both a self and assisted re-entry. The paddle will be held rain or shine, so you may receive training in "off-season" kayak camping as well. Preference will be given to Tacoma Basic Class students for the first week of sign-up, then opened to other chapters. Must be a mountaineers member. As campsite reservations have been made, and fees paid, there will not be refunds if you cancel. Vehicles will be left at free on-street parking in Manchester.
Time TBD, Pomeroy park, Manchester.

Required Equipment
In addition to the 20 sea kayaking essentials (I don't care if you have a chart) you will need suitable camping equipment for an overnight stay, including food, water, stove, etc. Participants must have a drysuit. If hiking on the island, you may wish to download a map on the state park website.
