Meeting time and Place: 8am Sequim Bay State Park, WA state Discover pass required to park. We can consolidate vehicles for the drive to the Elwah if folks like.
We will set up a car shuttle for this loop trip, leaving cars at the Madison Falls TH and the West Elwah TH. Starting on the west side hike the trail to the Glines Canyon overlook.
Then explore the Smokey Bottom trail in the area that used to be Lake Mills to Boulder Creek as time allows. This is a 4 mile trek out to the creek and back to the Damn. Then return to the Madison Falls TH on the abandoned Road.
We will travel at a conversational pace stopping along the way at various points of interest. The abandoned road and flatter sections will allow us to move a bit faster than other sections.
Here is a link to our 2025 trip I asked a participant to write this trip report, Monica did a very nice job, giving a different perspective than if I had written it.
Its a 2.5 hour drive to the Trailhead, with a long day of hiking. You may want to consider spending a night or two in the area. There are options at nearby Campgrounds and Hotels.
