Midweek long hike on one of my favorite trails! The first two miles of this trail is easy walking through rhododendrons. We may or may not climb the slag pile to see tubal caine mine (based on group interest) Past the mine, we will push on to buckhorn pass if the timing is right, wildflowers will distract you from EG. We can slow our pace (slightly...) for photos. The distance noted is to buckhorn pass as the turn around. If it is somewhat pleasant and worth it, we can allow some time at the top for exploration.
This will be an all day outing. If the idea of long drive to and fro plus hiking 14 miles sounds exhausting, please consider staying somewhere closer the night before. I am open to suggestions if anyone wants to do a group thing.
Please be realistic about your fitness to walk 14 miles with 4000 feet EG before signing up.
TBD somewhere within cell service probably 0800. The road to the trailhead is long, full of potholes, and better if done together (and driving directions downloaded). The trad meet up place-sequim bay sp is closed for construction.
