I can't say enough how nice this trail is. Walking along the Dungeness River is gentle and lovely. We will lunch at handy camp. Soon after, we will split off onto the heather meadows trail (trail gets a little more rugged with roots) until we find a suitable place to camp. Those wishing to hike to the end of the heather meadows trail may. Depending on where we break camp, this may not be very far, but the last mile of this trail does have some elevation gain.
You will need any form of food storage. This is outside of NP boundaries, no rule on bear cans.
This trip is open to intro to backpacking students until April 27. After that feel free to register if you have basic backpack badge or have communicated with me. Thanks.
Dungeness River Trailhead 11 am.
There is a campsite called lower dungeness trail camp right next to the trailhead if anyone is interested in camping the night before.
