***Trip initially open to Winter Hiking Series students. Trip will open for registration to all Mountaineers 7 to 10 days prior to the hike date.***
The pace is listed as 1.8-2.3 mph, but we will adjust to trail/snow conditions and a pace that allows conversations. Well broken-in hiking boots or mountaineering boots required. Micro-spikes strongly encouraged and trekking pole(s) advised. Should the weather and or trail conditions work against us, we will discuss and agree to alternatives as a group, such as diverting to the Mt. Si connector, instead of the summit (for example). Other than personal bio-breaks, we will stay together as a group within speaking distance of one another. Plan would be to spend 15-20 min. at the summit to take in the views, rest, and enjoy a snack, prior to descending.
Meet and assemble at Mt. Si main trailhead (near the sign by the pit toilets) at 7:00 AM. Brief introductions and trip review and depart by 7:15 AM. We will hike up the Mt. Si main trail to the Talus loop connector and veer to the right (east) to the main Mt. Teneriffe trail. From there, we will take the Mt. Teneriffe trail to the summit. This is NOT a snowshoeing trip, so per The Mountaineers standard's, should we run into snow that is beyond mid-calf/below the knee, we will turn around.
