The goal for this course is to build confidence in planning and executing a backcountry trip after a participant has completed an AIARE 1 Avalanche Course. “Putting it All Together” adds a planning lecture and an entire weekend of field trips that develops tour plans and apply appropriate travel techniques. Participants will test their judgment on a full day tour under the instructors’ (American Mountain Guide Association Ski Guide) guidance. Additional practice with skinning, snowshoeing, track setting, and route finding through identified Avalanche Terrain. Required: Previous verification of AIARE 1 training date/location/instructor to be accepted into course. Please feel free to email with any questions and/or concerns!
Lecture: February 11, 2015 from 6:30pm-10pm at Tacoma Program Center, 2302 North 30th Street, Tacoma, WA, 98403.
Field Sessions: FEB 14, 15 Mount Baker Backcountry from 8am-4pm. Option of staying at The Mountaineers Mount Baker Lodge will be available for students and highly encouraged to foster planning and decision making during the evenings!
This course has no scheduled activities.
All backcountry travel apparel and equipment: Beacon, shovel, probe, and backcountry travel apparel.
