Rescue with the 7:1 Double Mariner System - Tacoma - 2017

Climbing Course

Rescue with the 7:1 Double Mariner System

Learn a versatile hauling system with high mechanical advantage.

Looking for a versatile hauling system with high mechanical advantage? The 7:1 Double Mariners system will certainly get the job done. It is also easy to construct with minimal gear, and it is readily constructed as an add-on to a traditional 3:1 Z pulley. The technique works well for glacier travel, especially if you needa high mechanical advantage crevasse rescue system when traveling on a short glacier rope (e.g., a 30m rope). It is also a great way to rescue or assist a follower on a rock or alpine climb, and a good way to haul a heavy bag of gear up a route.
Meet at the Tacoma Program Center, 6-8pm.
Participants must be graduates of or enrolled in a Mountaineers Intermediate Alpine Climbing Course.
