Rock ONE introduces students to methods used when scrambling on rock terrain. During this activity, we will split into small instruction groups and rotate through five stations where students will be introduced to techniques and rope skills in preparation for Rock TWO.

The day will begin as a class to distribute harness kit materials and demonstrate how to tie and fit a typical hasty harness. After all groups have rotated through each station, we will regroup and complete this instruction day. Weather dependent, we will hang out afterwards to assist students further with any of the new skills covered.

All students will need to bring a pack with the items detailed below. Bring an old jacket or a long sleeve shirt to protect your arms during rope skills. Please do not wear your brand new Gortex shell during rope skills.

If rain is in the forecast, consider bringing a large umbrella. A camp chair is also ideal.

Our day will be organized as illustrated below. There are four application stations where you will be physically engaged in climbing or performing rope work. There are three lecture periods where we will cover additional material to set you up for success at Rock TWO.
