This first team meeting will provide students the opportunity to meet the instruction and leadership teams.  The day will begin with an introduction to Alpine Scrambling and the course activities that will follow.

Instructors will provide advice on physical preparedness and nutrition.

Typical scramble gear will be on display for students to interact with and ask questions.  Much of this gear is common to hiking and backpacking, but we also add in some more technical equipment such as helmets, boots and ice axes.

The day will conclude with a conversation on Avalanche Awareness led by a representative from the Northwest Avalanche Center.  Students who complete the day will earn the Avalanche Awareness badge.

This activity will be held at the Tacoma Program Center and in-person attendance is required.  There will be no virtual options for this activity.
