WALKING THE WILD: Backpack the Grand Canyon with Dick Lambe!

WALKING THE WILD: Backpack the Grand Canyon with Dick Lambe!

Mountaineer Dick Lambe has backpacked the Grand Canyon 5 times! In this virtual travelogue, Dick will share stories, photos and tips to help you plan your own trip!

Have you dreamed of backpacking the Grand Canyon, one of the seven natural wonders of the world? While the views from the Canyon rim or the Colorado River are spectacular, backpackers access the best views.

Join Mountaineer Dick Lambe at this 15th presentation in our Mountaineers Walking the Wild series featuring extraordinary adventures on foot by Mountaineers members in the wilds of the world! Dick has backpacked the Grand Canyon 5 times, and will share his stories and photos, plus tips to plan a successful Grand Canyon backpack. Backpackers in the Grand Canyon experience trails ranging from easy to difficult, crowded to solitary, dry to watered, blistering heat to snowy - sometimes all on the same trip. Walk along trails carved out of the Canyon walls by miners looking for the fastest route, not the easiest route. Backpack along the River on a scramble route. Experience the wide range of ecosystems from the rim down 5,000 vertical feet to the Colorado River. Camp in the Canyon for a chance to see sunset lighting the sandstone temples from what some consider the best single viewpoint in the Canyon.

Topics will include route options, gear, permits, training, weather, transportation tips, and time for Q&A.

The zoom program will begin at 7PM and will finish at 8:30PM followed by a Q&A and a chance to ask Dick questions and see some of his gear.

A ticket is required to attend - ticket sales will begin right after our April 22nd Walking the Wild event, at the ticket sales link below.
