WILL GADD is an elite athlete in sport climbing, ice climbing, and paragliding. Over the past three decades, he has established climbing routes and set world records. Gadd regularly teaches, guides, writes, and produces videos on mountain sports. He lives in Canmore, Alberta. Gadd started climbing, skiing, and exploring the Canadian Rockies more than forty years ago with his parents, and he hasn’t stopped learning about the mountains since. In addition to his award-winning writing on mountain sports, he has also won the Ice Climbing World Cup, the US and Canadian Paragliding Nationals, and the X Games; climbed a frozen Niagara Falls; flown over the Grand Canyon on a paraglider; done hard first ascents on alpine faces, rock, ice and sport climbs globally; and also done first descents of multiple rivers. He also speaks frequently on the value of risk taking, and risk management tactics for business and outdoor people. At 57, Gadd won the Festiglace climbing competition after teaching clinics to ice climbing novices. Even after all the wins and thousands of days teaching mountain sports, it is this mixture of high personal performance and sharing the stoke and effective techniques that Gadd lives for.
