Join The Mountaineers for a captivating evening with multifaceted artist, climber, adventurer, and Mountaineers Books author Jeremy Collins! In celebration of his upcoming release, Eventually a Sequoia: Stories of Art, Adventure & the Wisdom of Giants, Collins will redefine the boundaries of storytelling with a visceral fusion of performance art, cinematic visuals, and environmental consciousness. He will be joined in conversation by artist/writer/adventurer Tessa Hulls, creator of the Pulitzer Prize-winning graphic memoir Feeding Ghosts.

Based on Jeremy’s extensive, art-filled travel journals, Eventually a Sequoia is an inspirational and vivid exploration of the natural world and how it can empower an individual to grow, change, heal, and thrive. Part memoir, part manifesto, Eventually a Sequoia is an invitation for all of us to develop a deeper appreciation for the natural world and our place in it. On October 27, Jeremy will share a very special interactive, mobile art installation and live storytelling experience that immerses the audience inside of Jeremy’s artist sketchbook. This presentation will be followed by a conversation with Tessa Hulls, time for audience Q&A, and a book signing.

Don’t miss this powerful and immersive multimedia event!

Doors Open at 6:30PM

Program Starts at 7:00PM

JEREMY COLLINS is a multifaceted artist, climber, and adventurer whose work intertwines the grit of the wild with a mastery of visual storytelling. Known for his breathtaking illustrations and striking narratives, Collins captures the raw beauty and intensity of the natural world through his art and prose. As a climber, his daring ascents in some of the world’s most remote and challenging locations have shaped both his work and worldview, fostering a deep connection between him and the rugged landscapes he immerses into. Collins’ work invites us to understand the challenges and struggle of wilderness and ourselves, sparking a deeper appreciation for both the environment and the human spirit’s capacity to endure. His complex, cerebral, and whimsical drawings and maps have been featured in books, films, and commercial work. From the cover of National Geographic to his award-winning book Drawn: The Art of Ascent, and Earth Almanac, Collins is a bottomless well of inspired expression. Learn more at jercollins.com.

Tessa Hulls is an artist, writer, and adventurer who is equally likely to disappear into the wilderness or a research library. Her debut graphic memoir, Feeding Ghosts, won the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Critics Circle John Leonard Prize, the Eisner Award, the Anisfield-Wolf Award, and the Libby Award, and was a finalist for the Kirkus Prize and Pacific Northwest Book Award. Hulls’ creative practice weaves genres in category-defying ways, and she is pivoting her career to fuse her two great loves of creativity and the wilderness by becoming an embedded comics journalist working in long-term partnership with scientists and Indigenous organizations working in remote environments. She would love to hear from you if you want to partner with her on this endeavor. Learn more at tessahulls.com.
