Scramble Ramble: Overnight in Gothic Basin and Scramble Del Campo and Gothic Peak

Scramble leaders Manisha Powar and Ed Dominguez will take us to one of their favorite places in Washington, with an overnight scramble trip from the Mountain Loop Highway to Gothic Basin and up the scramble peaks.
348 ( 490 capacity)

Gothic Basic is a strenuous, 9-mile round trip day hike or backpack with 2,840 feet of elevation gain. The trail follows the Sauk River for a mile and then ascends steeply, going through forested, rough, rugged terrain and up a steep ridge. The payoff is a pristine alpine basin dotted with tarns, streams, lakes, and meadows all set in the shadows of Gothic Peak and Del Campo.  Gothic Peak and Del Campo are some of the more technical scrambles in the area--their challenge and the beauty of the are means they are ones that many scramblers have on their To-Do Lists.

Manisha moved to the Pacific Northwest many years ago and fell in love with the mountains. She started with the Alpine Scrambling course and has since been part of many other courses and committees. She and her husband are passionate about the outdoors and love sharing their learnings with students of various courses at The Mountaineers.  Ed grew up in the mountains of California and has been a member of the club for over 30 years.  He is inspired by the  beauty of the mountains, as well as the willingness of people in our classes to stretch their envelope of comfort and take the risks required to achieve what they never thought they could.  Ed is also a top-notch naturalist.

This event will be hosted on the Zoom platform.  Please RSVP in order to receive the Zoom link on the day of the presentation.  If you are not a Mountaineers member, please create a Guest account and then RSVP for this event.
