Seattle MAC - Conditioning Hike - Umtanum Ridge

A conditioning hike to help prepare and train for backpack trips, longer backpack trips, glacier climbs, alpine rock climbs, etc. We're traveling east of the Cascades to get some sunshine on this conditioning hike. This is a steep hike from Umtanum Creek to the ridge above the canyon. In spring, it is filled with wildflowers and birds, with chances of seeing rattlesnakes and bighorn sheep.

Registered MAC students will be prompted by volunteer or staff leaders to make a plan and publish a trip sheet about 1 month before the trip, to be approved by the MAC manager or volunteer lead by two weeks before the trip.

Trip sheet should include: meeting time and place (coordinates are helpful, here), trailhead parking pass details, carpool sign up link, trail description/notes (one can link to WTA trail description and reports), and a link to current weather report for the trailhead/area.

See trip planning resources folder here (also accessible from the MAC Course Page via "Program Materials") for trip sheet template and past trip sheet examples.
