Seattle Mentored Urban Walk Leaders Course - Seattle - 2025

Urban Walking Course

Seattle Mentored Urban Walk Leaders Course

The Mentored Urban Walk Leaders Course is for Mountaineers who have already submitted the general application to become Leaders through the Seattle Branch. Members will be enrolled without a fee so they may benefit from regular committee support.

The Mentored Urban Walk Leaders Course is designed to bring prospective leaders into the Seattle Urban Walk community.  Committee members will keep track of applicant advancement through the requirements, offering counsel and support as needed.

We will provide regular notice of required New Hike or Urban Walk Leader Seminars, Pedestrian Safety zoom sessions, On Trail Navigation courses, Adult First Aid/CPR classes, and Stewardship opportunities. The Committee will provide applicants a requirements list so they can track their own progress.

Veteran urban walk leaders will provide occasional trips where first registration is for Urban Walk Leader applicants.  Social time will be available after the walks.

When all requirements are met, instructors will offer a session to identify a potential mentor and review Mentor Evaluation Form used to evaluate candidates who have co-led a mentored Urban Walk. Instructors will put particular emphasis on the “Before the Urban Walk” and “At the Meetup” tasks.

In this first year pilot program, the Seattle Urban Walk Committee will seek volunteers to guide applicants through qualify requirements.
