Short Boat Surfing

Clinic

Short Boat Surfing - Hobuck Beach & Neah Bay

Introduction to and practice surfing in sit-on-top surf kayaks

  • Sea Kayak V
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 4.0 nm
  • Maximum Wind: 20 kts
  • Maximum Waves: 6 ft
  • Pace: sprints

Surfing short boats is fun.  In this clinic, you'll learn to have fun on short boats at your own pace.

Participants should have experience paddling in the surf zone and dynamic conditions.

We will primarily use Dagger Kaos sit on top kayaks, which are both accessible and maneuverable.

We likely will not have one boat per student so we will take turns.  When not surfing, you can learn from watching or surf your long boat.

I expect this clinic to be fairly informal.  We will make sure that everyone who has signed up, has a good amount of time using boat and getting coaching.  Those not signed up are welcome to drop in, get some safety instruction, and try short boat surfing.

This class is part of the surf weekend. Times for meeting will be announced on the Friday evening.  The clinic will primarily be in the morning.
