Sea Kayak Conditioning Series - Mercer Island

Paddle around Mercer island for conditioning and fresh air.

  • Sea Kayak II
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 11.8 nm
  • Maximum Wind: 15 kts
  • Maximum Waves: 2 ft
  • Maximum Currents: 1 kts
  • Pace: 3.7 knots

Meet at Enatai Beach Park at 8:00am.  We will organize boats to the beach for launch.  This park is under I90 bridge in Bellevue.  It is a little round-about to get there but provides a good launch site.

Note that 8:00am is the meeting time.  We'll launch when everyone is ready.

In the past, park bathrooms have been open for use.

We will paddle around Mercer Island, probably clockwise.  This is about a 13nm paddle.

Expect three breaks.  One on the SE of the island, one on the lower west side - about half way through the paddle where we can have lunch, and one on the north end.

In between we'll paddle at a generally steady pace, targeting about 3.7 knots

It is OK if you are slow, it is still early in the conditioning season and we are still figuring out what our strength and endurance are.  If the group gets too spread out, we'll tow.

IF THE TRIP IS FULL, sign up on the wait list.  If there is sufficient interest, we may create a second activity.
