We will have a trip planning session Friday (8-9pm) evening and a short one on Saturday evening (TBA) where the shuttle will be arranged and other details discussed. You do not have to commit to both days, but we would like it if you did. You also must be prepared and ready to roll (drive) by 7:30am each day.
Saturday—paddle from Anacortes (Seafarers Memorial Park) to Cornet Bay—18nm with a lunch stop in La Connor (bring your own lunch). End around 5pm.
Sunday—paddle from Cornet Bay to Anacortes (Seafarers Memorial Park)—helmet needed for the Pass—13 nm. End around 3pm.
We will consider the hazards of paddling around a marina, boat traffic, staying together in a narrow channel, and using a chart to follow buoys into a harbor in a trip planning session. Planning will consist of bailouts, lunch/potty stops, total distance, currents, weather, what-if scenarios, and whatever else may surface. We will then execute those plans the following two days.
Chart #18427 Anacortes to Skagit Bay
Requirements: This paddle is for people who can paddle for two hours without stopping, keep a steady pace of at least 3 knots, and be willing to push yourself to go the distance.
