Wilderness Navigation Field Trip - Carkeek Park

  • Easy
  • For Beginners (Getting Started Series)

After turning north off NW 100th St, meet at thenorth end of Mary Ave NW where a trail leads into the forest.  This is not one of the formal entrances to Carkeek Park.

We will host an AM Session for 12 students at 7:30 (arrive no later than 7:15). The trip leader will assign students to three small groups of 4 students  and 1 instructor to conform to the most recent state Covid instructional outdoor group guidelines.  The groups will operate independently.

All three prerequisite components -- the Online Map and Compass course, the Online Introduction to Digital Navigation course, and the In-Person Workshop MUST be finished before the field trip. Instructors do not need to pay the fee for the course.

Field Trip Details:
This is a half day in the field at Carkeek Park on the Sound in North Seattle. Morning Session accommodates 18 students, divided into three independent groups.   Each small group has two instructors. Parking is limited along Mary Ave.  Please respect local residents and do not block driveways.
