The hike will take us along the very popular Snow Lake trail. We are certain to have plenty of company. But unlike most, we will continue first to Gem Lake, and then after a short break, climb up to Lower and Upper Wildcat Lakes. Our hiking pace will be in the 2-2.4 range overall (slower uphill, faster downhill as conditions permit). I prefer we remain within shouting distance of each other. We will take the usual breaks for clothing adjustments, bio-breaks, water/snacks. There are privies at both Snow and Gem Lakes, in addition to at the trailhead. With so many lakes on our route, there will be plenty of opportunities to filter water, so bring a filter if you have one.
We will meet at the Snow Lake trailhead at Alpental ski area at 7AM, and start hiking by 7:20. People wishing to carpool can meet at the Tibbetts Valley Skate Park parking lot at 6:15. It is a 40-45 minute drive from there to the trailhead.
WTA directions to the trailhead: From Seattle, drive east on I-90 to exit 52, signed for Snoqualmie Pass West. Turn left (north), crossing under the freeway. Take the second right, traveling 1.3 miles to the end of the road at the Alpental Ski Area parking lot.
The Northwest Forest Pass or America the Beautiful pass are required.
Vault toilets are available at the trailhead.
