CHS 2 Hike - Silver Lake (Monte Cristo)

Field trip: Conditioning Hiking Series

CHS 2 Hike - Silver Lake (Monte Cristo)

This will be a CHS hike led at a CHS 2 pace (2.0-3.0 mph) to the abandoned mining town of Monte Cristo, and up the mountain to the beautiful Silver Lake.

  • Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 14.3 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,159 ft
  • Pace: 2.0-3.0

We'll meet at the Ash Way Park & Ride at 7am, looking to be driving to the trailhead by 7:15

This is a 13 mile out and back to the Monte Cristo ghost town, and up to Silver Lake. The stats on this hike are deceiving! The hike consists of a long and flat hike up the old mining road to Monte Cristo, with almost all of the hike's elevation gain in the last 1.5 miles straight up the mountainside to Silver Lake. It will be a serious leg workout!
