This Wednesday, June 11th, I will lead a CHS2 hike around Squak Mountain. The total hike is around 10 miles, and 3000 elevation gain over a well-maintained trail. Please email me back to let me know you got this email.
Meeting place and time: Arrive by 6:40, introductions at 6:50 am and ready to hike promptly at 7:00 am. May Valley Loop Trailhead, 13201 Squak Mountain Rd SE, Issaquah.
Drive I-90 east to Exit 15 and turn onto WA 900 (17th Ave NW). You'll be on this road for 4 miles. Note that after a few blocks through Issaquah, the road name changes to Renton-Issaquah Road SE. After four miles, turn left onto SE May Valley Road and drive 2.5 miles to large sign for Squak Mountain State Park on the left.
Trip Description: Starting at the May Valley TH, we'll climb through the lush forest of Bullitt Gorge on the south side of the mountain and head to the fireplace.

Weather: Be sure to check the weather closer to the date. from NWS, from Mountain-Forecast.com (for Squak Mtn)
Expectations: We will hike as a group, with focus on enjoying the morning and nature together. The lead person must be able to see the sweep person.
Carpooling options: If you would like to join a carpool, please send an email to the roster.
Needed Equipment: Bring snacks. We'll stop for a quick break in the vicinity of Central Peak. Poles are a recommended part of your gear for this hike. And, of course, your 10 Essentials with appropriate clothing layers and an extra pair of socks.

Meeting time: We’ll meet at the trailhead at 6:40 a.m. ready for introductions by 6:50. I have a white Mini Cooper Countryman. Please be prompt so we can start walking no later than 7:00. My hope is that we will be done before noon so you will have the rest of your afternoon to enjoy. :-)
