CHS 2 Hike - Greenwater & Echo Lakes

The sounds of the Greenwater River will be our constant companion as we hike through old growth forests to visit Greenwater Lakes and Echo Lake. This is the hike for you if you love whooshing rivers, water crossings over log bridges, tranquil lakes, and fir-filled forests. CHS hike led at a CHS 2 pace (2.0-3.0 mph).

 Location: Greenwater Lakes Trailhead

 Meeting Time:  8:30am   Boots on the Trail:  8:45am

 Directions:  https://goo.gl/maps/FDSmwKAFtwXZngkK9   Use google maps for directions to Greenwater Lakes Trailhead.  The WTA recommends these directions:  Take I-5 south to SR 18 at Exit 142A. Follow Highway 18 into Auburn and take the SR 164 exit. Head left on SR 164 through Enumclaw to SR 410. Turn left onto SR 410 and drive about 20 miles through the town of Greenwater, past the fire station to FR 70 on the left. Follow FR 70 a little over nine miles to FR 7033. Take a right and follow the road to the trailhead.

 Parking Pass:  Federal Northwest Forest Pass/America the Beautiful. You can purchase an annual pass or print a one day pass or an electronic pass here.

 Carpooling: Meet South Renton Park and Ride, 205 S 7th St, Renton, WA 98057 at 6:30am.  Load up and depart by 6:45am.  Google maps will provide accurate driving directions to South Renton PR. Its approximately 90 minutes to the trailhead.

Weather: Please check the local weather the night before and the morning of the hike at NWS for Greenwater Lakes and Echo Lake area.  If the trail conditions and or the weather is unfavorable, the hike will be canceled or rescheduled for a different location.

Sturdy water-proof footwear and trekking poles are recommended.

 Vault toilets are available at the trailhead.

 Please bring small, energizing snacks that are easily consumed during our short 5-minute breaks that you can eat on the go! GF brownies and cookies will be provided during our lunch break; well-deserved yummy treats after our steady ascent on a narrow trail with  moderate to steep drop offs on either side and then downhill to Echo Lake.  We will need to be very cautious on this part of the trail!
