Dusty Lake is located on the eastern banks of the Columbia River north of the Gorge Amphitheater (from Tibbets PNR in Issaquah WA it's about a 2.5 hour drive on I-90, one-way.) Escape the rain on a early season hike with April temps avg 55-32 degrees and an avg rainfall of 0.64" (lowest outside of summer months), expect a breeze. Could be warm or mild - layer clothing (I'm bringing my sun umbrella). Usually too cold for snakes, ticks, critters but could see/hear coyotes and always lots of birds. The two coulees have many trails and lots of options for hiking. We will ascend one basalt rib and view the 160' waterfall and lakes in both coulees. Mileage and elevation may vary.
Meeting place and time: Tibbetts Valley Park and Ride in Issaquah WA at 7:30 AM (a common meeting place throughout the season). It's between 290-310 miles RT, depending on which TH we'll start from. Please adhere to Mountaineers carpool policies or driver preferences (cash always works or Venmo-like apps). https://www.mountaineers.org/activities/good-carpooling-practices
This is a full day activity. As mentioned in Orientation, please do not make other plans as our return time can be affected by travel, unexpected delays, and of course - a post-hike meal.
Links to the TH, map, and weather provided in the "Hello Hiker" email, sent about five days before the hike. Let's have FUN! thks john s
