CHS Alumni Hike - Poo Poo Point via Chirico Trail

This is an out-and-back hike to the viewpoint atop Poo Poo Point. We'll start on the High School Trail from Issaquah High School parking lot and join up with the Poo Point trail to reach our destination.

  • Moderate
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 8.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,000 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 2,000 ft
  • Pace: 2.0 mph

We will start the hike in the Parking lot for Issaquah High School at the steps up to the tennis courts. Plan to meet in the parking lot near the tennis courts at 8:30 AM.  No Discover Pass is needed.

For people who are interested in car-pooling. Doug plans to leave from the Green Lake Park and Ride in Seattle at 8:00 AM.  Julie plans to leave from the Tibbetts Valley Park Park and Ride in Issaquah at 8:20 AM.

An optional after hike gathering will be at Masa Mexican Kitchen & Cantina in Issaquah.

We will start on the High School Trail accessible from the Issaquah High School Parking Lot. The first 3.5 miles ascend 1800 feet at a fairly constant grade through a mossy coniferous forest and large ferns to the highest elevation of the hike.  After descending 200 feet over the next half mile, we reach our destination and the views (weather permitting) where we will stop for lunch before returning to the trailhead by the same route.

Hiking poles are helpful during the accent to the highest elevation and then the descent to the Point as the trail is somewhat rooty with a couple of moderately steep sections.  Depending on weather, gaiters and possibly micro-spikes (high point elevation is 2000 ft) may be useful.  An update will be given in the Hello Hiker Letter.  A nap of the hike is in Green Trails Map 204S (Tiger Mountain).
