Every journey begins with a single step and the Mountaineers invite you begin your journey of enjoying the spectacular beauty the Pacific Northwest has to offer by attending our Beginning Hiking Seminar. The Beginning Hiking Seminar will review items to bring on a day hike, show examples of hiking gear, review how to dress for comfort and safety, what to expect on a Mountaineers hike, seasonal trail hazards, where to shop for equipment (and save money), hiking courses offered by the Seattle Mountaineers, and how to research your hikes. This seminar is designed to answer questions you, as a beginning hiker or new Mountaineer member, may have about getting started on hiking the Pacific Northwest.
There is NO COST for this seminar! You don't have to be a Mountaineers member to attend. However, we do ask that you sign-up to attend the seminar as room capacity seating is limited to 75. Members and non-members are asked to utilize the on-line registration system. If assistance is needed to sign-up, please call Member Services at 206-521-6000. A minimum of twenty-five participants is required by 5:00pm one day prior to the sign-up close time or the seminar will be canceled and the affected participants will be notified accordingly via the email address provided during sign-up. For this event, no carpool assignments will be made. Participant is responsible for their own transportation to the Seattle Program Center.
