Basic Backpacking Field Trip

Field trip: Basic Backpacking

Basic Backpacking Field Trip - Ross Dam & Big Beaver Creek

Overnight field trip for the Seattle Basic Backpacking Course.

  • Moderate
  • High Point Elevation: 2,100 ft
  • Pace: 1.5 - 2 mph
    **This is Plan A**
If WE're not able to secure the NECESSARY PERMIT, PLAN B will be a trip with 2000-2500' ELEVATION GAIN OVER 7 Miles at a slower pace. The DRIVE will be similar or shorter from North SEattle.

    More details TBA in May.

We will be on the ancestral land of the Sauk-Suiattle and Syilx-Okanogan people and acknowledge that Indigenous people have lived on and stewarded these lands since the beginning of time, and continue to do so today. In choosing to recreate here, we will do so respectfully, mindful to subvert any attitude of conquest.

    About Basic Backpacking Field Trips

The Basic Backpacking Field Trip is the final scheduled activity of the Basic Backpacking Course.  For most students it will be their first overnight trip in the backcountry.  Basic Backpacking Field Trips are usually single-night trips along Easy or Moderate routes that do not present any unusual technical challenges.

Meeting at the trailhead at 8AM for gear check and backpack fitting.
