This is a Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course taught by Remote Medical Training (RMT), a leader in wilderness medicine training and education. The WFA course is 2 days and designed to provide elementary skills in remote care. Based on recommendations from the Wilderness Medical Society and evidence-based research, the curriculum focuses on making sound decisions regarding patient evacuation, as well as skills for extended care. The Wilderness First Aid courses are hands-on, experiential format providing students with the skills and confidence for making remote medical care decisions. WFA is ideal for climbers, scramblers and other outdoor recreation enthusiasts who either work or play away from definitive medical facilities and support.
For more information on Remote Medical International, see their website.
Note: This is not the same course curriculum as the Mountaineers' MOFA course, which is based on the Red Cross curriculum. However, either course will fulfill the first aid requirement for Mountaineers' courses that have a first aid component.
