This Basic Climbing Refresher clinic reviews current belay tie-off and rappel techniques used in the 2019 Seattle Basic Climbing course.

Meet in the basement (east side) of the Seattle Program center at 6:30 or as soon as your commute will allow.

The Seattle Basic Refresher Clinics offer Basic Alpine Climbing graduates, and non-Mountaineer members with equivalent training and experience, the opportunity to review the skills and techniques they learned in the course.  Cost per clinic: $0

This  Seattle Basic Refresher Clinic - Alpine Rock Skills -  covers the alpine rock climbing skills. 

Climbers planing to take the upcoming Basic Equivalency skills check are welcome to email the leader.  Basic Climbing skills are required for sign up but there are many ways to obtain basic climbing skills.  For you, this clinic allows you to see what the Mountaineers mean by basic climbing skills.

Skills to be practiced, with a nod to the upcoming Basic Climbing Equivalency 

  • Belaying and Belay tie-off
  • Rappelling with an extension and autoblock
