Basic Climbing Refresher / Practice Session - Alpine Rock Climbing Skills - Mountaineers Seattle Program Center
A free clinic. Open to qualified non-members. Review and practice alpine rock climbing techniques, belay techniques, and rappelling. Non-members and non-Basic Climbing grads are also welcome if they have the appropriate climbing skills.

This session covers the alpine rock climbing skills learnt in Basic climbing courses.
Skills to be practiced:
- Climbing knots review (figure 8, clove hitch, Munter, double fisherman, butterfly, water knot, bowline, flaking and coiling)
- Belay review (PBUS and lead belay/catching a fall)
- Belay tie off review (tie off and go hands free)
- Rappel review (Extended rappel and alternate:3 carabiner brake )

Rock climbing gear.
- Helmet
- Harness
- Belay device (can be ATC or assisted device such as Grigri)
- Rappel device (ATC)
- Autoblock or prussik loop
- Belay gloves (recommended)
- Boots or approach shoes or climbing shoes
- Carabineers (at least 4 locking carabineers and several non lockers)
- Anchor material (several slings or cord)
